  Downloadable Course Overview

  This course is designed to help mortgage professionals understand the tolerances and change in circumstance provisions of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) related to the Good Faith Estimate (GFE). The course will help originators, processors, underwriters and closers understand the law in plain english and apply the best practices in their day to day responsibilities. Participants must have a comprehensive understanding of the GFE form either through the MU RESPA Part I - Understanding The Good Faith Estimate course or through practical use and experience.  

There are three lessons in this course. The following overview provides you with the information that is covered.

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

 

  • Identify RESPA tolerance categories
  • Identify what fees go into each category
  • Understand how to identify RESPA tolerance violations
  • Understand how to cure RESPA tolerance violations
  • Understand RESPA's definition of a "changed circumstance"
  • Be able to identify a "changed circumstance"
  • Be able to identify fees that may change when there is a "changed circumstance"
  • Understand the documentation requirements when there is a "changed circumstance"
  • Complete a GFE properly
  • Identify how the Good Faith Estimate fees relate to the HUD -1 Settlement Statement
  • Understand how tolerance cures are calculated
  • Understand how tolerance cures are shown on the HUD1
